Mobile Game of the Day: Pig Hunters

Looking for a competitive and intense multi-player card game? Pig Hunters may be just the app you need! This Vietnamese poker game takes the cake of playing “13”, where you race with three other players (online or with friends) to get rid of 13 cards. You can use different combinations like singles, doubles, triples, runs or bombs with the 2 of Hearts being the highest and the 3 of Spades being the lowest.

The Pitaya Group created many different modes to play, one of my favorites is “Winner Takes All”, where if you are the first, you win all of the coins! Not familiar with the card game 13? You can always go into “Classic Mode” and rank in the top two to avoid losing the money and strategizing your next move. And be careful, there’s a timer for each player that automatically “passes” you if you are taking too long (don’t be that person!). There is no money involved, but there is a shop if you want to accessorize your character or emojis when chatting with your competitors, ranging between $0.99-$99.99.

This light-hearted game is great, and simulates an actual poker tournament, without having to break the bank! But be careful, there’s a lot of online competitors that want your coins. If you did lose out on your coins, you can always head to the “Rewards Hunt”. These targets usually burst 200,000-350,000 coins just for watching a short ad. You can also receive coins and diamonds for every daily login.

Ready to play? Here are some of my tips when you are playing the game:

  1. The starting player must start with a 3, but you can have a combination of doubles (3,3), or sequence (3,4,5, etc…) to get rid of most of your cards.

  2. If a player places a 2, you can beat it with either a combination of holding four of the same numbers (7,7,7,7), three doubles in sequence (JJ, QQ, KK), or four doubles in sequence (33,44,55,66).

  3. Get rid of your smallest numbers first to accelerate the chances of winning.

  4. If you’re playing “Classic Mode”, try to be the top two winners to avoid losing money in a game.

  5. Watch the hands of the players. If you see them throw down double twos (2,2), the other twos are left (hopefully in your hands!)
